Handouts available: Chapter Bylaws, meeting minutes of September 11, 2004, Guillermo Dante Ramirez-Rodriguez’s trip report
1:35ppm Meeting was called to order by President Francis Wardle. Attendance was taken.
Pres. Francis reviewed minutes of 9/11/04 meeting.
Motion for approval of minutes; motion passed.
Guillermo discussed his south-bound visit to Iracambi and his findings, the main strategy and expected results. His final decision was that the area can handle mining due to its not being highly forested, existing damage, and the level of benefit to the community. Due to the relatively small population, the ratio of benefit to the number and need is good. Employment opportunities will be one outcome.
Attendees to the POA International Conference, in Antiqua, Guatemala, were: Roger & Betty Brown and Pres. Frances Wardle. They reported on the conference, the vitality of the group was fun, and meetings were good. Next year, the Conference is in Little Rock, Arkansas, November 10-12, 2005.
Pres. Frances reported on Mario’s visit after the Conference. They had some solid vocational visits at the Western Art Center and the Denver Art Museum, and other galleries. Mario felt the trip was beneficial due to his identification of an actual need for a project direction, in addition to meeting Partners members and learning more about the organization.
Francis discussed the rechartering effort, stating the urgency heightened by the national office. Pres. Francis will resolve the effort for non-profit status under IRS Code §501(c)(3).
New business: Mary discussed a proposal of a samba “summer” camp. The possibility involves musicians, drummer and guitar workshops.
Roger committed to “do” the chapter website.
Guillermo requested any feedback, suggestions, or ideas regarding his report.
Treasurer’s Report: none (not present).
Officer and board elections were postponed until the next meeting.
The following upcoming meeting dates were set:
