     1. Purpose and Activities: Describe the main purpose and activities of your trip (meetings held, services performed, workshops conducted, lectures or clinics given, any other). Did all activities take place as planned?

The purpose of the travel was to fold: to visit the Partnership at Denver and to attend the International Convention in Quito/Ecuador.

The activities in the Hoster Chapter made possible the strengthening of the Partnership and opened  the possibility for various new projects in different areas such as Education, Health, Culture and Women and Families.

One of the intents of the host Partners member Linda Kay Nedved was to

coordinate the involvement of as many local Partners members with the visit

as possible.  The concept was to bring more commitment to projects through

enrollment and communication of ideas.  Hosts/Partners members included:

Linda Kay Nedved (Chapter visit hostess), Ron and Nadja Farina, Bryan and

Carolyn Cooke.

Among the activities were attending a State of Colorado Early Childhood

Educational Standards Task Force with Partners member Dale Beckman and a

tour of the indigent dental clinic at the University of Colorado Health

Sciences Center, by the Chair/Professor of the Department of Dental Hygiene,

School of Dentistry Gail N. Cross-Poline.

Also a meeting with Bobbi McFarland, Business Manager, Division of Theaters&Arenes, City  and Ronald F. Pinkard, Deputy Director, Art, Culture and Film, City and County of Denver.

In the city of Greely, CO, we visit the Monfort Children's Clinic, for indigent children, whose Medical Director, Dr. Donald Cook, a former President of American Academy  of Pediatrics, became very motivated to visit Brasil and to join Partners. We also visit the shelter "A Woman's Place", a domestic violence agency that offers safe housing, crisis couseling, support/advocacy, children's program and a 24 hour crisis line and CARE, Child Advocacy Resource and Education..

Accomplishments include the drafting and compilation of two small grants in

the Women and Families area (domestic violence projects) and the review and

submission of the final report on another former grant in the same area.

Many discussions were held with non-Partners members regarding the POA

organization and with members regarding furthering Chapter concerns and

interests.  In addition, wonderful friendships were forged and strengthened,

interests and communications were furthered, and the Chapter's good will and

international aspects were heightened.

The attending of the conference was an excellent experiece which enhanced my understanding of the Partners organization, enabled me to get acquainted with various projects of many chapters and gave me the opportunity to review some friends and make many others.

2a. Results/Impact: What was accomplished? Include a description of results in measurable terms. (For  example: 40 high school youth from 5 high schools were trained in peer counseling techniques and  assistance was provided to five high school administrators in the development of youth anti-drug organizations in the schools.)

As mentioned above we were able to write and submit to small grants in Women and Families area. In Quito we discussed with Gabriel Márquez, president of the Chapter Antioquia/Massachussets, about their project in Chapter Development and Organization and he will help us in our goal of invigorating the MG/CO Chapter.

2b. What difficulties were encountered and lessons learned that may be useful to future travelers?

I had no difficulties  during my trip.

Everything was very well organized and I want to thank my Partners Chapter in Colorado and the POA staff in Washington.

2c. What are the expected or anticipated long-term benefits of your project? Have any new projects or spin-offs emerged?

The long term benefits would be the training of both patients of the Public Health System and students in Public School, about gender issues, in an attempt to prevent domestic violence.

As mentioned before, many ideas for new projects have emerged and I am looking forward to have them going on.

    3. Follow-up: How do you plan to share this experience with your Partner chapter and your community?

I have already scheduled a meeting with our president, Dr. Baldonedo, for 12/10/02, for which he will be  inviting all chapter members  and where I will have the opportunity to share this wonderful experince.

     4. Please provide any other general comments/suggestions regarding your trip.
